Volkmar Hamacher

Global Vice-president Research&technology And Clinical Affairs at Advanced Bionics

Volkmar Hamacher has extensive work experience in the field of audiology and hearing systems. Volkmar began their career as a Research Engineer at RWTH Aachen University's ENT Department in 1991 and worked in that role until 1997. Hamacher then joined Siemens Audiologische Technik GmbH, where they held various roles including R&D Audio Signal Processing Engineer and Project Manager from 1998 to 2001. Volkmar later became the Director of the R&D Signal Processing and Audiology Department until 2006, and then served as the Director of Corporate Product Management Brand Rexton, Audio Service and A&M until 2009. In 2009, Hamacher joined Phonak AG as a Research Program Manager for Implantable Hearing Systems. In 2010, they became the Managing Director of Advanced Bionics GmbH and also took on the role of Director of the European Research Center at Advanced Bionics. Volkmar was later promoted to Vice-President of Clinical Research in 2016 and Global Vice-President of Research & Technology and Clinical Affairs in 2017 at Advanced Bionics.

Volkmar Hamacher obtained a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from RWTH Aachen University, Germany, from 1984 to 1990. Volkmar later pursued a Doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) in Electrical Engineering at the same university in 2004.
