Verna Mandez

Verna Mandez has a diverse work experience in the field of policy and advocacy. Verna currently works as the Policy Director for the Transmission Campaign at Advanced Energy United, a position they started in September 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Deputy Director at the Nevada Conservation League (NCL) from September 2020 to August 2022. In this role, they oversaw program work, campaign planning, and staff management, aiming to elevate environmental issues and build leadership for conservation in Nevada.

Before joining NCL, Verna was a Representative for Senator Catherine Cortez Masto in the United States Senate from January 2018 to September 2020. During this time, they worked on energy and natural resources portfolios and served as a liaison to constituents seeking assistance from federal agencies.

Verna's earlier experiences include working as a Community Organizer for Battle Born Progress, a Nevada-based advocacy organization, from August 2016 to January 2018. In this role, they trained as a media spokesperson, organized community events, and mobilized voters on progressive issues. Verna also briefly worked as a Political Coordinator at the Bring Back Solar Alliance from April 2016 to August 2016.
