Carolien van der Giessen

Carolien van der Giessen has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Carolien currently holds the position of Head of External Communications at Aegon, which they took on in February 2022. Prior to that, they worked at ING from 2018 to 2022 as a Product Owner in the Wholesale Banking Branding and Communications Squad. In this role, they were responsible for setting team priorities and managing stakeholders, while also executing communication and brand deliverables. Before joining ING, Carolien worked at ING Nederland from 2007 to 2018 as a Press Officer for ING Group. Carolien'searly career includes roles as a Relationship Manager and Senior Legal Advisor at Vereniging van Effectenbezitters from 1998 to 2007, as well as a Legal Assistant at Van der Schaar Advocaten from 1997 to 1998. Throughout their career, Carolien has demonstrated expertise in communication, branding, stakeholder management, and legal affairs.

Carolien van der Giessen's education history includes a Master's degree in Law from the University of Amsterdam, which they obtained between 1990 and 1997. In addition, they attended the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University in 2017 for a Summer Course in Corporate Communications, focusing on Communication and Media Studies. Carolien also pursued further education in an agile way of working at Xebia Academy in 2019, specifically in the field of Product Owner scrum.
