Diego Grassi

Project Manager - Preclinical Development at Aelis Farma

Diego Grassi has a diverse work experience spanning multiple fields. Diego currently works at AELIS FARMA as a Project Manager, starting in 2021. From 2018 to 2021, they were a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Neuroscience (IINS), where they conducted research on the dynamics of the extracellular space in the brain and its relation to autoantibodies against synaptic proteins. Diego also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the same institute, focusing on neurodegenerative disorders.

Prior to that, Grassi was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at The Scripps Research Institute - Florida campus from 2015 to 2018. During their time there, they were responsible for the screening platform and participated in translational research projects on senescence and neurodegenerative disorders.

Diego started their career as a Graduate Researcher at the Department of Biological Chemistry, CIQUIBIC - CONICET in 2008, where they worked on projects related to neuronal development, axonal regeneration, and neurodegeneration. Grassi also gained experience as a Research Assistant during their PhD training at Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, acquiring knowledge in confocal microscopy, neuron cell cultures, and membrane trafficking in developing neurons.

In addition, Grassi worked as a Worker / Welder at ASSI S.A., gaining valuable teamwork skills and experience in a fast-paced work environment. Diego also had research experiences as an Undergraduate Researcher at the Department of Cytogenetic, National University of Misiones and the Multidisciplinary Institute of Plant Biology (IMBIV), Universidad Nacional de Córdoba.

Grassi's career started with an internship as a Chemical Analyst at Petroquimica Río Tercero, where they performed analytical and gravimetric assays and trained scholar fellows.

Diego Grassi's education history begins with their Chemical technician degree from ENET Nº1 General Savio in Argentina, which they obtained from 1991 to 1997. Diego then pursued a degree in Genetics, completing their Ms. at Universidad Nacional de Misiones from 1998 to 2005. Their academic journey continued with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Neurobiology and Neurosciences from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, which they obtained from 2008 to 2014.

In addition to their formal degrees, Diego Grassi has also obtained several certifications. Diego completed courses on Pharmacology, including Drug Delivery and Essentials, at Harvard Medical School in August 2021 and July 2021, respectively. Diego also completed courses on Immunology, including Immuno-oncology and Novel Therapies for Chronic Inflammation, Autoimmunity, and Allergy, at Harvard Medical School in March 2021. Further certifications include Stereotaxic Surgery (Rodents), Experimental Surgery (equivalent to FELASA function A), and Animal Experimentation Project Designer (equivalent to FELASA function B) from CNRS, obtained in December 2019, November 2019, and October 2019, respectively. Diego Grassi also completed a course on Image Processing and Analysis for Life Scientists at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne through edX in February 2019. Finally, they completed a course on Animal Experimentation in murine models (according IACUC protocols) at The Scripps Research Institute - Florida campus in April 2015.
