Bill Querbes

Bill Querbes is currently the Chief Scientific Officer at Aera Therapeutics, a position held since September 2025. Prior to this role, Bill Querbes served as SVP, Head of Therapeutic Discovery and Translational Sciences at Tessera Therapeutics from April 2021 to September 2025. Bill's career also includes significant positions at AVROBIO as VP, Program Leader, and at Synlogic, Inc. as Senior Director, Program Leader. Bill began a long tenure at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals in 2006, where roles included Director, Associate Director, Principal Scientist, Senior Scientist, and Scientist, culminating in over a decade of experience in the field. Bill holds a PhD in Medical Science from Brown University and a BS in Biology from SUNY Geneseo.
