Kathy Smart-Preston has had extensive work experience in the IT industry. Most recently, they held the position of Information Technology Lead at Aeris Insight Inc. starting in October 2020. Prior to that, they worked as a Sr. Project Manager at iPipeline from May 2018 to October 2020, successfully managing a $2.5 million client account.
From 2016 to 2017, Kathy worked at Major Insurance as a Lead Developer, where they analyzed, designed, and implemented XML on Life insurance products using Oracle Insurance Policy Administration/AdminServer (OPIA) configuration. Kathy also worked as a Senior Software Developer at Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc. from September 2014 to March 2016.
In 2012, they joined Aviva as a Software Developer, where they configured and implemented annuity products on the AdminServer platform in an Agile project development environment. Kathy was responsible for analyzing, designing, and implementing XML for new annuity products and business process rules.
Earlier in their career, Kathy worked at Oracle as a Consulting Practice Manager from August 2008 to June 2011, and at AdminServer as a Sr. Business Analyst from 2006 to 2008. At AdminServer, they led a project team for insurance product implementation and was involved in requirements gathering, design, and XML configuration.
Kathy began their career at Nationwide Insurance in 1995 as a Project Manager/Sr. Business Systems Analyst, managing various projects including the re-write of the corporate intranet site and the creation of an in-house corporate Forms Database.
Throughout their career, Kathy has demonstrated strong technical skills in XML, SQL, JavaScript, and Oracle Insurance Policy Administration (OIPA). Kathy has also gained experience in project management and client-facing roles, successfully managing large accounts and leading project teams.
Kathy Smart-Preston attended Wilmington University from 2008 to 2015, where they pursued a degree in Organizational Management. During this time, they focused on the field of study in Organizational Management. In 1994 to 1995, Kathy also attended the Computer Learning Center, where they studied Computer Programming. Their studies included C, COBOL, and UNIX programming languages.
