Tom Lawrence has extensive work experience in mechanical engineering. Tom has worked as the Director of the Mechanical Engineering program at IUPUC since 2017. Prior to that, they were an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Indiana University Purdue University Columbus starting in 2012. Tom also held the positions of Chief Scientist at Aerodyn Engineering, Inc. and Executive Wizard at AeroQuest Research Group in 2010. From 2002 to 2009, they served as Vice President at Aerodyn Engineering. Before that, they worked as a Senior Consultant at Rockford Consulting Group, Ltd from 1996 to 2001.
Tom Lawrence received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Coe College in 1972. Tom then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from Northwestern University between 1972 and 1975. From 1974 to 1975, they attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and obtained a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME). Subsequently, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Business Administration, Management, and Operations from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, completing it from 1977 to 1979. Lastly, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics from Purdue University, which spanned from 2005 to 2011.
