Yasin Karimi, PhD, is an Optical Systems Engineer at Aeva since September 2022, specializing in LiDAR technology and interferometric methods for high-precision range detection. Responsibilities include developing Frequency-Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) concept LiDAR and characterizing system performance, including lateral and axial resolution as well as motion-induced ripples. Previous experiences include serving as a Hardware Technology Intern at Apple, where research focused on the polarization of light in scattering media and Monte-Carlo simulations, and as a Molecular Chemical Imaging Intern at ChemImage Corporation, working on chromatic aberration in hyperspectral imaging. Yasin holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a focus on bio-imaging, and a Master of Science in Optics/Optical Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University, along with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from Sharif University of Technology.
