Hui-wen Liu has extensive work experience in the field of scientific research. They started their career as a Teaching Assistant at National Taiwan University in July 2005, where they served as a lab instructor and assisted with various tasks.
In July 2006, Hui-wen joined Academia Sinica in Taiwan as a Research Assistant. They worked on protein purification and designed peptide inhibitors to regulate the activity of the influenza virus nucleoprotein. This research contributed to the development of potential antiviral strategies.
In September 2008, Hui-wen became a Graduate Research Fellow at The Ohio State University. They focused on identifying the genome-wide SUMO-1 signature and its role in regulating cellular processes during cell cycle progression. They were involved in experiment design, execution, and NGS library preparation and data analysis.
Starting from May 2014, Hui-wen worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at OHSU | Oregon Health & Science University. They specialized in molecular cloning and in vitro assay development, using rodent primary neuron cells or cell lines to validate potential drugs against axon degeneration. They also conducted qPCR studies on gene expression in NAD+ biosynthesis.
In November 2018, Hui-wen joined Biogen as a Scientist I and later transitioned to the role of Scientist II in April 2021. Their responsibilities at Biogen included molecular research and assay development.
From May 2021 to July 2022, Hui-wen worked as a Senior Scientist at Resilience, contributing their expertise to the company's scientific projects.
Currently, Hui-wen Liu holds the position of Principal Scientist in Assay Development at Affini-T Therapeutics, starting from August 2022.
Hui-wen Liu has an extensive education history. Hui-wen obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Molecular Biology from The Ohio State University in 2014. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Chemistry and Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Microbiology and Biochemistry from National Taiwan University. In addition to their formal education, Hui-wen Liu also completed a course titled "Principles of Clinical Pharmacology" offered by NIH Clinical Center (CC) provided by NIH clinical center course, although the details of when they obtained this certification are not available.
