Brent Deterding

Brent Deterding has over 20 years of experience in the cybersecurity industry. Brent currently serves as the Chief Information Security Officer at Afni, Inc., leading a team of 25 professionals and supporting over 11,000 employees worldwide. In their role, Brent focuses on cost avoidance, efficiency improvement, sales enablement, and compliance assurance. Prior to Afni, Brent worked at Secureworks, where they held various positions including Global Solution Lead for XDR/MDR and Cloud, as well as Lead Engineer in both Cloud Security and Security Operations. Brent also has experience as a SOC Manager and Lead Engineer in Implementations and Device Management. Brent's career also includes roles at SANS/GIAC as a SANS/GIAC Activist and at TechGuard Security and SOLUTIA INC as a Lead Engineer in Security Operations.

Brent Deterding holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Brent has obtained various certifications, including Board Qualified Technology Expert (QTE) from Digital Directors Network, Certified CISO from Dr. Eric Cole, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)², and several certifications from SANS Institute such as GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA), GIAC Certified Perimeter Protection Analyst (GPPA), GIAC Incident Response and Forensics Certification, and GSEC: GIAC Security Essentials (GISO).
