Alex Area

Alex Area has extensive work experience in the banking and finance sector. Alex started their career in 2003 as a Human Resource Administrator at Stanbic Bank Uganda and later transitioned to the role of Credit Administrator. In 2007, they joined Barclays as a Retail Credit Assessor before moving to UBA Group as a Corporate Credit Analyst in 2008. At UBA Group, they also served as a Senior Relationship Manager in Corporate and Investment Banking. In 2013, they joined Uganda Development Bank as a Senior Investment Manager, where they stayed until 2017. During this time, they also worked as an Investment Analyst at Development Bank of Southern Africa on a short-term attachment. From 2017 to 2018, they worked at Trade and Development Bank - TDB in the role of Export Credit Agency Partnership and Finance. Currently, since 2018, they are working at the African Development Bank Group as a Principal Investment Officer.

Alex Area's education history is as follows:

- In 2023, they attended The Wharton School for a course in Executive Presence and Influence, specifically in the field of Persuasive Leadership Development.

- From 2018 to 2020, they pursued a Masters in Development Finance at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.

- In 2015 and 2016, they completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program with a specialization in Financial Management at Uganda Technology And Management University.

- In 2004 and 2005, they obtained post-graduate education in Financial Management from Uganda Management Institute, focusing on Accounting and Finance.

- From 1999 to 2002, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics from Makerere University.

Furthermore, Alex Area has also obtained additional certifications:

- In 2020, they received PRINCE2® Foundation Certification Training from AXELOS Global Best Practice.

- In 2019, they became a Certified Expert in Financial Inclusion through the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.

- They have an incomplete certification in Certified Expert in Climate & Renewable Energy Finance, with no specified completion date.
