Dr Margaret Nampijja is a developmental psychologist with a medical background, focusing on early child development (ECD) research. She is particularly interested in the impact of childhood infections and adverse social environment on cognitive function, and interventions for improving outcomes.
Based in the Maternal and Child Wellbeing (MCW) Unit since February 2019, she is engaged in several ECD projects including assessing the feasibility of providing day-care centers at work places and its impact on women’s economic empowerment and child growth and development.
Having qualified as a medical doctor at Makerere University, Margaret worked with the Medical Research Council- Uganda Virus Research Institute where she advanced her academic qualifications obtaining a master’s degree and PhD in developmental psychology at Lancaster University, UK.
