African Wildlife Foundation
Alphonce Nicholaus is an experienced GIS Consultant at the African Wildlife Foundation since February 2013, specializing in the extraction, creation, and quality control of spatial data, including digitization and conversion of various formats. Previous roles include Specialist at jcpenney, Digital Content Lab Fellow and MGIS student at the University of Minnesota, and Research Assistant at the Jane Goodall Institute, where data collection and management of chimp behavior was a focus. Additional experience includes data collection and interviews in rural Tanzania, volunteering with Green River Greening, and serving as Assistant Director at Boona Baana Center for Children’s Rights. Alphonce holds a Master of Science in Geographic Information Science from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Resource Management from the same institution, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Dar es Salaam.
