Laura Rowley

Vice President, Life Science Economic Development at North Carolina Biotechnology Center (NCBiotech)

Laura Rowley has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations. Laura is currently employed at North Carolina Biotechnology Center (NCBiotech), where they hold the position of Vice President, Life Science Economic Development since January 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Director, Life Science Economic Development from August 2018 to December 2021. Laura also held roles such as Director, Technology & Talent, Bioscience Industrial Development, and Associate Director, Technology & Talent, Bioscience Industrial Development at NCBiotech from 2017 to 2018.

Before joining NCBiotech, Laura worked at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fellow from September 2015 to January 2017. Laura also gained experience as a Research Associate at the North Carolina Office of Science, Technology & Innovation, where they contributed to research initiatives aimed at improving the economic status and well-being of North Carolinians through scientific and industrial research and innovation.

Additionally, Laura worked as a Research Analyst at Duke University from February 2015 to September 2015 and as a Business and Technology Development Intern at North Carolina Biotechnology Center in May and June 2015. Laura started their career as a Research Assistant at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where they worked from March 2009 to May 2014.

Throughout their various roles, Laura has demonstrated a strong focus on economic development and innovation in the field of life sciences.

Laura Rowley received their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology from Furman University in 2008. Laura went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Genetics and Molecular Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2008 to 2014.
