Principal Development Scientist at AGC Biologics

Elena Shirokova Chad has a diverse work experience spanning over 24 years. Elena started their career as a Summer Student at the Department of Biophysics, Humboldt University in 1999. Later, they worked as a Research Assistant at the Moscow Institute of Molecular Genetics, where they assisted in the study of therapeutic agents for neurodegenerative diseases. In 2001, Elena became a Doctoral Student at the University of Potsdam and the German Institute of Human Nutrition, where they discovered and characterized a signal transduction pathway in human pheromone-like receptors. Elena then joined the Givaudan AG/German Institute of Human Nutrition as a Research Scientist in 2005.

In 2007, Elena took on the role of Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC), University of Montreal, where they made significant contributions in uncovering a new role of β-arrestin in leukemia. Elena utilized various techniques and developed a fluorescence-based assay to monitor protein-protein interactions.

In 2014, Elena became the Head of HTS & InVitro Pharmacology at Euroscreen, responsible for coordinating and implementing research projects and managing a team. Elena also supported ongoing HTS campaigns and had hands-on experience in tissue culture, assay development, HTS, hit profiling, automation, and data warehousing.

Elena then moved on to AMRI (Albany Molecular Research Inc.) in 2016, where they served as a Senior Research Scientist and Lead Discovery. Elena worked on various projects related to lead discovery and utilized their expertise in assay development, hit profiling, and data analysis.

In 2019, Elena joined Sai Life Sciences Ltd as a Principal Scientist, contributing their knowledge and skills in drug discovery, development, and research. Currently, they work as a Principal Development Scientist at AGC Biologics, utilizing their expertise in scientific development.

Throughout their career, Elena has demonstrated their proficiency in various scientific techniques, including immunoprecipitation, western blot, EMSA, ELISA, reporter gene assays, flow cytometry, RT-qPCR, RNAi, fluorescence microscopy, and more. Elena has collaborated with colleagues and managed teams, showcasing their leadership abilities.

Elena Shirokova Chad completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Molecular Genetics and Cell Biology from the Institute of Biochemistry and Biology, University of Potsdam in Potsdam, Germany. Elena attended this institution from 2001 to 2005.

Prior to their doctoral studies, Elena earned a Master's degree in Physics with specialization in biophysics from Lomonosov Moscow State University. Elena pursued their master's degree from 1994 to 2000.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Elena obtained certifications in "Budgeting and Scheduling Projects" and "Initiating and Planning Projects" from Coursera in January 2021.
