Dennis Underwood has a long and diverse work experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. Dennis started their career in 1985 at Merck Research Laboratories as a Director of Molecular Systems. Dennis then moved on to DuPont Pharmaceuticals where they served as the Executive Director of Discovery Informatics and Molecular Design. After that, they joined BMS as a Senior Director of Structural Biology and Molecular Design. In 2003, they became the VP at Infinity Pharma, where they built the Discovery Informatics platform and developed analysis tools for drug discovery data. In 2005, Dennis founded Praxeon Inc, a healthcare technology company, and served as the CEO and Founder until 2015. Dennis is currently working as the VP of Molecular and Information Science at Agenus. Throughout their career, Dennis has demonstrated expertise in molecular design, informatics, and technology application in the healthcare field.
Dennis Underwood's education history includes a PhD in Physical Organic Chemistry from the University of Adelaide, which they received between 1977 and 1981. Subsequently, they worked as a Research Associate in Gas Phase Ion Chemistry at The Rockefeller University from 1981 to 1982. From 1982 to 1983, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at Cornell University, focusing on Electronic Structure. In 1984, they held a Postdoctoral Fellow position at the CSIRO Division of Applied Organic Chemistry in Melbourne, where they specialized in Electronic Structure Calculations. In 1985, Dennis became a Fellow of ANU at The Australian National University, concentrating on Transient Organic Species.
