Elizabeth Durkin is an experienced professional in healthcare education and research, currently serving as the Manager of Healthcare Education and Counseling at AgeOptions since July 2020, overseeing the Avisery Program. Prior experience includes roles at the University of Chicago, where Elizabeth managed significant health equity projects funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and administered grants for the Finding Answers project. Additionally, Elizabeth held academic positions at Northwestern University, contributing as an Adjunct Lecturer and Assistant Research Professor in areas related to health services and mental health policy. Elizabeth holds a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Chicago, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Theology from the University of Notre Dame.

AgeOptions is a nonprofit organization connecting older adults and those who care for them with resources and service options so they can live their lives to the fullest. Since 1974, our mission has been to sustain and promote independence for older persons in their own homes and communities. As the Area Agency on Aging of suburban Cook County, Illinois, we advocate, plan, coordinate and fund services for older adults. Together with a network of community-based senior service organizations, we connect residents with vital services such as information and assistance, community dining programs and home-delivered meals, housekeeping help, employment services, access to benefits and support for family caregivers.
