Valerie Choniuk

National Director, Patient Experience at Agilon Health

Valerie Choniuk, MPA-HCA, CPXP has extensive experience in the field of patient experience and healthcare management. Valerie is currently serving as the National Director of Patient Experience at agilon health, where they lead enterprise-wide efforts in CMS CAHPS, HOS performance, and Value Based Care for Global and Professional Direct Contracting and Medicare Advantage lines of business.

Prior to their current role, Valerie was a founding member of The PX Community (PXC). As a founding member, they played a significant role in disrupting the perception of patient experience in healthcare and removing barriers to thought leadership, resources, and tools.

Valerie also holds experience as the Director of Patient Experience at CareMount Medical, where they led key patient/customer experience improvement initiatives, resolved complaints, and identified barriers at the point of care. Before joining CareMount Medical, Valerie worked as a Manager of Patient Experience at CenterLight Health System, where they managed patient and member experience programs and initiatives to drive continuous improvements. Valerie developed strategies to transform patient experiences and perceptions, ultimately enhancing CAHPS scores.

Valerie's expertise in patient experience also extends to their tenure as a Manager of Patient Experience at Compass One Healthcare. In this role, they implemented sustainable programs and initiatives across multiple acute care health systems, driving improvements in customer satisfaction and employee engagement. Valerie successfully fostered change and transformation to significantly improve HCAHPS scores.

Valerie began their career as a Corporate Trainer of Customer Service Experience at Brinker International, where they developed their skills in customer service and training.

Valerie Choniuk obtained a Master of Public Administration degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management from Marist College School of Management. Prior to this, they had completed their Bachelor of Arts degree with a dual major in Speech Communication & Rhetoric and Journalism from the University at Albany, SUNY. In addition to their educational background, Valerie Choniuk holds several certifications, including Certified Patient Experience Professional (CPXP) from the Patient Experience Institute, as well as certifications in coaching, safe sport, and first aid/CPR/AED.
