WHAT IS ON OFFER
Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Chemist to join the team based in Bintulu, Sarawak Malaysia. You will be responsible for assisting in the establishment of a full service biomass laboratory including commissioning of the laboratory and ultimately testing activities in support of our client’s requirements in the region. This is a hands on role requiring a practical, pragmatic and flexible approach, in all aspects, to ensure successful team work.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Required Work Experience
Ten plus years’ experience in a full service solid fuels laboratory environment at least in a supervisory role. It is expected the suitable candidate will have experience of modern instrumental techniques such as ICPMS, EDXRF, Ion chromatography as well as more traditional proximate and ultimate analysis, all within an ISO 17025 environment
Experience in laboratory establishment and commissioning
General management experience covering people, operations, client liaison and business administration activities.
Required Qualifications
A suitable academic college or university technical degree, preferably in analytical chemistry
Main Responsibilities:
Perform chemical analysis and testing activities ensuring on time delivery to meet the client’s requirements including technical support or advice if necessary.
Ensure all activities are performed within the AHKES quality system
Issue technical and inspection report in accordance with the quality system and AHK LIMS system
Provide supervision and training for laboratory staff to ensure continuity of service
Deputise for the Operations Manager as and when required
Comply with all local environmental, employment and health and safety legislation
Support business development activities within the region if requested
