Nathan Derave

Nathan Derave has a diverse work experience in the field of platform engineering, data engineering, and DevOps. Nathan has worked at various companies and has showcased their expertise in machine learning and platform engineering. At Ahold Delhaize, they serve as the DevOps Lead, empowering developers to follow software engineering standards and adopt a DevOps culture. Nathan also focuses on architecting cloud architectures that are scalable, cost-effective, and resilient. Prior to this, Nathan worked as a Freelance Platform & Data Engineer at PiperWorks and as a Platform & Data Engineer at Data Minded, where they worked on various data-intensive projects and supported Machine Learning Engineering teams. Additionally, they have worked at Accenture in roles such as Platform & Machine Learning Engineer, where they empowered Data Science teams and developed embedded computer vision models for automated vaccine vial defect detection. Nathan also has experience in lecturing, having been an Invited Lecturer at KU Leuven, where they conducted seminars on cloud computing, scaling up cloud applications, DevOps, and MLOps.

Nathan Derave holds a Master of Science degree (M.Sc.Eng) (Ir.) in Computer Science Engineering & Applied Mathematics from Faculté Polytechnique de Mons. Nathan also completed a Master's thesis on Recommendation engine and client segmentation for IPTV systems at Shanghai University. In addition, they have obtained certifications in Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS).
