CTO at AiFi

João Diogo Falcão has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. João Diogo began their career as a Karate Instructor at Escola Salesiana do Estoril from 2006 to 2010. In 2009, they worked as a Student Researcher at INESC-ID, where they conducted research on binary neural networks and published a paper on image recognition.

From 2012 to 2014, Falcão served as the CTO & Co-Founder of AFM Tech, a technology company focused on facilities maintenance. In this role, they supported major clients such as Exxon Mobile, Total, and the Angolan Government. João Diogo also integrated a building maintenance system with a proprietary web-based system to allow remote control of buildings.

In 2012, they briefly worked as a Software Development Engineer at Atlantic Facilities Management. In 2016, Falcão had an internship as a Research Engineer at Xilinx, where they developed and studied computer vision algorithms for the company's new products and proposed improvements based on performance analysis.

Falcão's most recent experience is with AiFi Inc., where they have held various roles since joining in 2017. João Diogo served as a Software Engineer and Technology Lead from November 2017 to July 2018, then became the Director of Engineering from July 2018 to January 2019. João Diogo was subsequently promoted to Vice President of Engineering in January 2019 and took on the position of CTO in October 2020. In these roles, Falcão has played a crucial role in the company's technological advancements.

João Diogo Falcão pursued their education in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, focusing on advanced studies. João Diogo obtained their Bachelor's Degree from Instituto Superior Técnico between 2007 and 2011. Following this, they attended Cornell University from 2011 to 2012, where they completed their Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree. Subsequently, João enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University Silicon Valley in 2014 and completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2021. Throughout their educational journey, João consistently demonstrated a dedicated interest in their field of study.
