Loris Franchi

Loris Franchi has worked in the space industry since 2013. In 2014, they were a Junior Research Fellow at Politecnico di Torino, where they worked on a Artificial Neural network (ANN) attitude controller and Closed loop guidance for rendezvous & docking maneuvers, modelling and simulation of 6DOF body with a focus on the GNC sub-system of a medium size launch vehicle. Loris was also an ADCS engineer at Politecnico di Torino CubeSat Team, studying different ways to control a nano-satellite, testing Artificial neural networks, Hinf controller and LQR/LQG controller especially during the stabilization mode. In 2016, Franchi worked as a Concurrent Engineering Workshop for the European Space Agency (ESA) and was an Assistant Systems Engineer and Co-Organizer for ESA and Politecnico di Torino. Loris was also a Visiting Researcher for ESA in 2018 and a Mission Analyst for a science lunar mission with CubeSats in 2014. In 2017, Franchi was a Co-Founder & Advisor for AIKO - Infinite ways to autonomy. In 2019, Franchi worked as a CubeSat Systems engineer and Environmental Test engineer for ESA (through Redu Space Services), providing engineering and management support to the educational CubeSat activities of the ESA academy programme.

Loris Franchi's education history includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Aerospace Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, obtained between 2015 and 2019. Loris also holds a Master of Engineering in Aerospace with a specialization in space systems engineering from Politecnico di Torino, obtained between 2012 and 2014. Additionally, Franchi has a Bachelor in Engineering in Aeronautical and Astronautical from Politecnico di Torino, obtained between 2009 and 2012. Their earliest degree is a Perito del trasporto aereo progetto alfa in Perito aeronautico from ITIS Giulio Cesare Faccio, obtained between 2004 and 2009. Franchi also holds certifications from AGI, including STK Master Certification and STK Level 1 Certification, both obtained in 2016, as well as AGI System Tool Kit Grand Master.
