Riccardo Maderna

Head of Autonomous systems at AIKO - Autonomous Space Missions

Riccardo Maderna has been working in the field of robotics since 2017. Riccardo began their career as a Teaching Assistant and PhD Student in Robotics at Politecnico di Milano. In this role, they taught undergraduate and graduate courses on automatic control theory and robotics, conducted research on human-robot collaboration for flexible manufacturing in Industy 4.0, and supervised the master thesis work of graduating students. In 2021, they joined AIKO - Infinite Ways to Autonomy as the Head of Autonomous Systems. In this role, they lead the team in pursuing department objectives, is the reference point for all operations related to the design and development of autonomous systems and algorithms, and is the Project Manager and Technical Lead in institutional projects at European level and commercial partnerships. Riccardo also designs and develops on-board spacecraft autonomy algorithms for both internal products and institutional projects, and contributes to writing of proposals for institutional projects at European level.

Riccardo Maderna's education history includes a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Information Technology - Systems & Control from Politecnico di Milano (2017-2020), a Master of Science - MS in Automation and Control Engineering from Politecnico di Milano (2015-2017), an ATHENS Programme from Télécom Paris (2017), a Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering from Politecnico di Milano (2012-2015), and a Diploma di Maturità from Liceo Scientifico, indirizzo PNI (2007-2012). Riccardo also has additional certifications in Leading Teams from the University of Michigan (2022), Algorithms Specialization from Stanford Online (2021), Deep Learning Specialization from DeepLearning.AI (2020), and IELTS - overall band score 7.0/9.0 from the British Council (2014).
