Henry Kautz is an accomplished academic and researcher in the field of computer science, currently serving as a Professor at the University of Virginia since August 2024. Previously, Kautz held multiple roles at the University of Rochester, including Professor and Chair of the Department of Computer Science, and has been recognized as Professor Emeritus since September 2007. Kautz has significant leadership experience as the Division Director for CISE/IIS at the National Science Foundation from June 2017 to June 2022, and as the Founding Director of the Goergen Institute for Data Science from October 2014 to May 2018. Kautz's extensive industry experience includes positions as a Technology Fellow at AT&T Labs and head of Department at AT&T Bell Laboratories. Educationally, Kautz earned a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Rochester, a Master's degree from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor's degree from Cornell University.
