Fred Lockwood

President, Oceos at Air Liquide

Fred Lockwood has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over two decades. Fred began their career as a Wind Turbine Control Systems Engineer at NEG Micon (now Vestas) in 2002. Fred then served as a Junior Consultant at Collège des Ingénieurs in 2003. Fred joined Air Liquide R&D in 2004, where they held various roles, including R&D Engineer in Carbon Capture Technology and Project Manager in Carbon Capture Technology Benchmarking and Autonomous Power from Renewable Energy.

In 2009, Fred transitioned to Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions, where they continued to excel. Fred served as a Proposals Manager in the Energy & Environment markets, leading commercial proposals for bespoke CO2 capture plants. Fred also held the positions of Industrialization Manager in Carbon Capture Technology (Cryocap), Head of Innovation Team, and Head of Engineering Services, where they launched and grew an engineering services business unit, managing both sales/business development and project delivery.

In 2020, Fred Lockwood joined Air Liquide as the President, OCEOS, and played a vital role in setting up a Joint Venture for handling liquid CO2 transport by ship and barge in the field of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). Fred led the negotiation of a shareholder agreement while defining business plans and technical roadmaps. Fred was also responsible for the development of a CO2 shipping solution, which secured significant subsidies from the EU Innovation Fund.

Overall, Fred Lockwood has demonstrated expertise in carbon capture technology, engineering services, and project management, consistently achieving impressive results throughout their career.

Fred Lockwood attended the University of Oxford from 1996 to 2000, where they obtained an MPhys degree in Physics. From 2000 to 2001, they studied at CentraleSupélec and earned a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 2003 to 2004, they pursued an MBA in Business at Collège des Ingénieurs.
