Michele Carandente

Deputy Vice President Air Traffic Services at Aireon

Michele Carandente has a diverse work experience in the aviation and IT industries. They began their career in 2007 at Selex-SI, where they worked on ATM software development for the CoFlight FDP project. They then joined Lemon Computing in 2009 as an IT & Network Engineer before moving to Livewire Connections as an IT & Network Engineer, focusing on finding solutions for megayacht customers and developing innovative products. In 2010, they became an ATM Engineer for ENAV S.p.A. through NEXTANT SpA, working as a consultant.

In 2012, Carandente joined ENAV as a CNS ATM Engineer - International Strategies and was deeply involved in SESAR projects and datalink projects, serving as the AIREON Satellite ADS-B Technical expert. They stayed with ENAV until 2018.

Since 2015, Carandente has been working at Aireon LLC. They started as the Manager of Business and Sales Support, coordinating technical sales activities and regulatory actions. In 2016, they took on the role of Regional Director for Europe, Middle East, and Africa, responsible for commercialization and supporting EU interactions. Carandente currently holds the position of Deputy Vice President Air Traffic Services, overseeing Aireon's commercial activities with ANSPs worldwide and leading the Customer Account Management department.

Michele Carandente has a Master's degree in Telecommunications and Software Engineering from the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II. Their field of study focused on computer engineering, software programming, and networking.

In 2014, Michele attended the ENAV Academy in Forlì for an ATC course.

As part of the ERASMUS Project, Michele studied at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 2004-2005, where they specialized in computer networks and software development.

They also completed safety training courses at EUROCONTROL in 2011, specifically the SAF-SAM Training Course and SAF-SC Training Course.

In 2009, Michele earned CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) and MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) certifications from Bickenhall College Of Computing. These certifications covered networking and server-related topics.
