Caroline Walerud

Caroline Walerud has a diverse work experience that spans various industries and roles. Caroline is currently the Executive Chairman, Cofounder, and Investor at AirForestry, where they are involved in the development of electric drones for forest conservation. Prior to this, Caroline cofounded Volumental in 2012, serving as the Executive Chairman and CEO initially. Caroline helped shape the company's mission of revolutionizing the shoe industry through 3D scanning and artificial intelligence. Additionally, Caroline was a Partner at Walerud Ventures, where they joined pre-seed deep tech companies and provided guidance and support. Caroline has also been actively involved in supporting entrepreneurship, serving as a member of the Advisory Board at STING – Stockholm Innovation & Growth, and as an Entrepreneur and Member of Prince Daniel's Fellowship. Furthermore, Caroline has contributed to the startup ecosystem as a mentor at Creative Destruction Lab, and they have served as a Board Member at Swedish Algae Factory. Caroline has also participated in government initiatives, such as being a member of the Government's Entrepreneurship Reference Group at Regeringskansliet and serving as a jury member for the Rivstart impact startup competition at Swedbank. Caroline's early work experience includes research and consultancy roles at the Stockholm School of Economics, where they focused on cluster organizations and international cooperation.

Caroline Walerud attended the Stockholm International School from 2002 to 2008, where they obtained an International Baccalaureate (IB) degree with a Bilingual Diploma. Caroline then pursued higher education at the University of Cambridge from 2008 to 2011, earning an MA (Cantab) degree in Natural Sciences.

In terms of additional certifications, Caroline obtained various qualifications from the Styrelseakademien. In 2018, they received the "Rätt Fokus i Styrelsearbetet (SME)" certification. Caroline further enhanced their skills by obtaining the certifications "Ägarstyrning och ägardirektiv i ägarledda företag" in 2022, "Rätt Fokus i Styrelsearbetet - Noterade Bolag, Påbyggnadsutbildning" in 2022, and "Ökat Fokus: Ordföranderollen" in 2023, all from Styrelseakademien.

Caroline also holds certifications as a Certified Open Water Diver from PADI and has obtained an EU driver's license from Sweden. In addition, they have reached an Intermediate Advanced level of proficiency (B2 in CECR rating) in French through the Alliance Française de Nice.
