Joan Piasta Omreng

Joan Piasta Omreng has extensive work experience in the legal field. Joan is currently serving as a Senior Legal Counsel M&A at Aker Horizons since August 2021. Prior to this role, they worked as a Legal Advisor at Wiersholm from April 2019 to June 2021.

Before joining Wiersholm, Joan gained valuable experience as an Associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Affiliates from September 2015 to February 2019. Joan also worked as a Summer Associate at the same company from May 2014 to August 2014, where they contributed to various projects such as researching judicial deference and drafting legal documents.

Joan's professional journey also includes a legal internship at Anderson Mori & Tomotsune in 2013, where they assisted senior partners and associates in drafting cross-border M&A documents and negotiating agreements.

In addition, Joan has a background in research and teaching. Joan worked as a Research and Teaching Assistant in Cultural Anthropology at the University of San Francisco from August 2010 to December 2011. During this time, they also played for the USF Varsity Women's Soccer Team, excelling as a Center Midfielder.

Prior to their legal career, Joan gained research experience as a Research Assistant at O'Brien, Watters & Davis, LLP, where they focused on mental health research and provided administrative assistance to lawyers and paralegals.

Joan Piasta Omreng completed their primary education at Ursuline High School. Joan then pursued higher education at the University of San Francisco from 2008 to 2011, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Classical Studies with summa cum laude honors. Following this, Joan enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, where they earned a Doctor of Law (JD) degree from 2012 to 2015. During their time at the University of Pennsylvania, they also completed a Certificate in Management from The Wharton School in 2014. Additionally, they became an attorney admitted to the New York State bar, recognized by the New York State Supreme Court, Third Judicial Department.
