Egil Birkemoe

Vice President, Electrical Transmission at Aker Solutions

Egil Birkemoe has a diverse work experience spanning several companies. Egil started their career at PGS Exploration in 1994, where they worked as a Chief Navigator on various vessels involved in deep-sea seismic exploration. Egil then moved on to ABB AS in 1997, where they initially worked as a Project Manager for diesel electric propulsion systems for the marine industry. Later, they became the Section Manager for Flow Assurance, responsible for consultancy and optimization software products. Egil also served as the Department Manager for Integrated Operations, where they were in charge of global strategy, products, and business development.

In 2010, Egil Birkemoe joined Aker Solutions and held several leadership positions. Egil served as the Vice President of Business Development and Operational Support before becoming the Vice President of Strategy, Corporate, where they led the annual strategy process and development of the company's portfolio strategy. Egil then took on the role of Vice President of Alliances and Electrification, heading up technology alliances and leading the front-end segment within digitalization and electrification. Most recently, they held the position of Vice President of Electrical Transmission, where they developed consultancy services and competitive new products within the system aspect of offshore electrical transmission.

Egil Birkemoe pursued their MSc degree at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) from 1988 to 1992. Their field of study was the Institute of Engineering Cybernetics, and they wrote a thesis on the dynamic positioning of offshore vessels.
