Alan Gilstrap

Alan Gilstrap is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in patient advocacy and engagement within the biopharmaceutical industry. Currently serving as Senior Director of Advocacy and Engagement at Akouos since June 2019, Alan previously held the position of Executive Director of Patient Advocacy and Policy at Akcea Therapeutics from April 2015 to May 2019, where significant relationships were established with the global Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome patient community. Prior experience includes serving as Director of Global Patient Advocacy Development for Cardiovascular at Sanofi Genzyme, where Alan was instrumental in supporting the formation of patient organizations and communities for rare diseases. Alan's background also includes roles in sales management and product training at Abbott Laboratories. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Management from the University of North Florida and a Certificate in Organizational Leadership from Harvard Business School Executive Education.
