Dr. Carla L. Chapman currently serves as the Chief Diversity Officer and Director of Community Relations, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Akron Public Schools, a position held since October 2003. Dr. Chapman has extensive experience in developing and managing equity-focused programs, coordinating cultural sensitivity training, and facilitating community engagement initiatives. Prior to this role, Dr. Chapman worked as a Coordinator of Special Projects and as a Social Services/Family Services Specialist within Akron Public Schools, where responsibilities included linking families to vital services and managing grant programs. Dr. Chapman holds a Doctor of Education in Interprofessional Leadership/Cultural Foundations from Kent State University, along with multiple certifications in training and emotional intelligence.
