Chief Medical Officer at Aktiia

Jay Shah is the current Chief Medical Officer at Aktiia. Prior to this, Jay Shah served as the Executive Board at The Portland Clinic from December 2012 to October 2019. Jay Shah has also worked with various other companies such as Global Health Impact Fund, I-Ally, Inc., Global Health Impact Network, MicroSalt Inc., Mayo Clinic, Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, and ASU/Mayo Clinic.

During Jay Shah's time at The Portland Clinic, they led the transformative process of the organization over a 5-year period with innovative and disruptive approaches and thought processes, and set a different standard for board engagement. Often characterized by peers as a “change agent”, some of Jay Shah's key accomplishments include leading the formulation, strategy, and execution of mission and vision; conducting search, interview process, and selection of an entirely new leadership team (CEO, CFO, and COO); directing a complete redesign of compensation and benefits for all 600 employees and 110 providers; assisting in budget formation and expense reduction; shaping review and redesign of real estate/space utilization including consolidation, planning, financing, and development and construction of two new practice sites; and providing key input into legal issues. Under Jay Shah's leadership, total revenue increased by 25% and expense reduction was achieved by 15%.

Jay Shah has completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and has also completed a doctor of medicine program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. Jay is currently completing a residency in cardiovascular disease at Washington University in St. Louis. Jay has also completed an internal medicine residency at Massachussetts General Hospital. Jay is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease.
