Ali Hashem

Ali Hashem is a seasoned journalist currently serving as a Program Editor and Correspondent at Al Jazeera English since March 2020. With a wealth of experience, Hashem has been a columnist for Al-Monitor since January 2013, providing insights on Middle Eastern crises, and worked as a bilingual correspondent for the BBC from February 2018 to February 2020, focusing on Iranian affairs. Notably, Hashem founded and headed Al Mayadeen Online from March 2012 to January 2018, where innovative digital features were developed. Previous roles include reporting for Assafir Newspaper on the Iranian post-election crisis and serving as a Senior Broadcast Journalist at the BBC from 2007 to 2011. Academic qualifications include a Master of Research in Politics and International Relations from Royal Holloway, University of London, and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts from the American University of Science and Technology.
