Hussam Karkashan has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Hussam began their career as a Summer Trainee at NCB in 1997 and later served as a Summer Trainee at Al-Jafali Heavy Industrial in 1998. In 2002, they worked as a Co-op Trainee at Jeddah Beverage Can Company.

Karkashan then joined Schlumberger in 2003, where they worked as an Oilfield Specialist in the Artificial Lift department. Their responsibilities included ESP installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting in Abu-Safah and Safaneiyah fields. Hussam also served as a field supervisor for Abu-Safah field for six months.

In 2007, they worked as a Co-op Trainee at Saudi Arabian Airlines before joining The National Commercial Bank - AlahliNCB in 2008. At AlahliNCB, they held the position of VP, Treasury Business Development & Support Manager. Their role involved developing and introducing new treasury products, creating business policies and procedures, and managing operational risks.

In 2020, Karkashan worked as a Consultant for the National Development Fund, where they developed the operating foundations of NDF's treasury. This included creating a treasury governance framework, defining stakeholders' roles and responsibilities through the Liquidity and Investment Management committee charter, and developing a consolidated liquidity and investment management framework.

Most recently, in 2022, they joined Al Rajhi Bank as the Head of Treasury Business Development.

Hussam Karkashan earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a specialization in Finance, General from the University of Business and Technology from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Yanbu Industrial College from 2006 to 2008. Hussam also completed an Associate degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Yanbu Industrial College from 2000 to 2003.
