Samuel Tan

Samuel Tan, P.E. is an experienced civil engineer with a strong background in structural and architectural engineering. Currently serving as the Supervising Plans Checker for Alameda County since October 2017, Samuel previously held positions as a Plan Check Engineer at CSG Consultants and as a Seismic Detailing Manager at International Seismic Application Technology. Additionally, Samuel has experience overseeing plan checking activities for the City of Richmond, acting as a civil engineering liaison for Chevron's refinery projects, and creating structural engineering plans at Fratessa Forbes Wong. Samuel's early career included engineering roles at Arup, where significant contributions were made to the design of Kaiser Template hospitals. Samuel holds a Master of Engineering in Civil (Structural) Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo.
