Vici Varghese

Vici Varghese is a highly experienced professional in the field of public health and virology, currently serving as the Director of Laboratory Services for Alameda County's Department of Public Health since February 2023. Prior to this role, Vici held the position of Assistant Laboratory Director at the Alameda County Public Health Laboratory from August 2019 to February 2023, focusing on developing a Public Health Intelligence System to combat infectious diseases. Vici's extensive background includes roles as a Microbiologist at the Department of Public Health, a Research Scientist, and Research Associate at Stanford University School of Medicine, and a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at the Robert Shafer Lab, where Vici conducted significant research on HIV-1 drug resistance and quasispecies characterization. Vici also contributed to the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases as a Research Fellow, examining viral genomics and its epidemiological impacts.
