Swecha Potharaj has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Swecha began their career as a Medical Doctor at K L E SOCIETY'S JAWAHARLAL NEHRU MEDICAL COLLEGE in 2013. Swecha then worked as a Medical Doctor at General Hospital Ernakulam from 2013 to 2014. Swecha continued as a Medical Doctor at Southern Nuclear scans from 2015 to 2016, and later at Skin clinic and Pharmacy from 2016 to 2017. In 2018, Swecha joined Southern nuclear scans once again as a Medical Doctor until 2022. During this time, they also worked as a Medical Assistant at THE ALLERGY AND ASTHMA CLINIC, INC. from 2021 to 2022. In the same year, they were a Medical observer at Florida Academic Dermatology Centers, LLC and Mercy Doctors Medical Group. Swecha then pursued their residency, first as a PGY 1 Medical Resident at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley from 2022 to 2023, and currently as a PGY 2 Medical Resident at Alameda Health System.

Swecha Potharaj completed a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from K L E SOCIETY'S JAWAHARLAL NEHRU MEDICAL COLLEGE from 2008 to 2016. In 2019, they pursued a post-graduate diploma in Family Medicine at Christian Medical College Vellore, which was completed in 2021. Additionally, they obtained a post-graduate diploma in Dermatology in Clinical Practice from the University of South Wales from 2019 to 2020.

Swecha also holds several certifications. In September 2021, they obtained the ECFMG certification from ECFMG. Swecha completed the SafetyQuest: Level One - QI Basics certification from Stanford University School of Medicine in July 2021. In April 2021, Swecha completed the Covid-19: Training for Healthcare Workers certification, also from Stanford University School of Medicine.

Currently, Swecha is pursuing an Internal Medicine Residency at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, which began in 2022 and is expected to be completed in 2025. Swecha is also concurrently undertaking another Internal Medicine Residency program at the same institution, which started in 2022 and is set to end in 2023.
