Norman H Koo

Vice President, Strategic Accounts at Alan AI

Norman H Koo has worked in numerous roles in various companies since 1987. Norman H began their career at Sun Microsystems Inc. as Vice President/Senior Director, Worldwide Field Operations, where they built and executed Sun's AsiaPac business and grew the revenue from $30 million to $1.6 billion in 6 years. Norman H also did pioneering business development-partnership work in China to support CERNET (China Education Research Network)/Ministry of Education and grew the China business from startup to $500 million. In 2001, they took on the role of Vice President and General Manager-Greater China for AOL, where they planned, built, and staffed the AOL China operation in Beijing. Norman H then went on to become Managing Director for Intuit's China Operation in 2010, responsible for the China market entry strategy and its implementation. In 2012, they became Executive Advisor for Liberty Global Inc., heading the business development for "triple play" (CableTV video/Internet/voice) for Liberty Global in China. From 2013 to 2016, they were Senior Vice President Business Development for Symbio Inc., responsible for development of strategic accounts in co-innovation for integrated secured e-commerce systems, mobile apps, and IoT (Internet of Things). In 2016, they joined Alan AI as Vice President, Strategic Accounts and Member, Advisory Board. In this role, they were responsible for the planning and execution of selected F-500 enterprise and government agencies for the application of "hands free smart voice" leading-edge Voice AI technology, as well as assisting and guiding the strategic planning and partnership building for the growth of the early stage startup of Alan Inc. In 2017, they became VP, Strategic Accounts for Alan AI, Inc. Additionally, they have held advisory board roles at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Cellular Dynamics International, and PGP Corporation.

Norman H Koo received their MS/PhD in Nuclear/Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University between 1970 and 1977. Prior to that, they earned their BS in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Norman H also holds an MBA in Finance & Marketing from Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business.
