Prof. Marion Oswald, MBE, is a senior researcher at The Alan Turing Institute and serves on the advisory board of the Centre for Data Ethics & Innovation, as well as acting as a specialist adviser for the House of Lords Justice & Home Affairs Committee. Oswald is an associate professor of law at Northumbria University and an associate fellow at the Royal United Services Institute. Previous roles include senior fellow and head of the Centre for Information Rights at the University of Winchester, senior legal counsel at Ordnance Survey, general counsel for Advertising.com, and central government legal adviser in Whitehall. Oswald has extensive academic qualifications, including a PhD in Law from Northumbria University and a BA in Law from Durham University, along with certification in management from The Open University and recognition as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
