Daryl Spitzer

Daryl Spitzer has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of software engineering. Daryl is currently working as a Senior Principal Software Engineer at Alarm.com, a position that they started in January 2024. Prior to this, they were a Staff Software Engineer at Samsara from July 2022 to December 2023.

Before joining Samsara, Daryl worked for Roku Inc. as a Sr. Software Engineer from November 2014 to July 2022. At Roku, they focused on customizations to Roku OS embedded Linux firmware and also worked with Python and JavaScript.

In 2014, Daryl worked briefly as a Developer at LightSpeed Retail. Prior to that, they were an Embedded Software Architect at Xilinx from February 2011 to January 2014. Daryl also has experience as a Senior Software Engineer at Netflix from October 2009 to January 2011 and as a Staff Engineer at VMware from August 2008 to October 2009.

Daryl's earlier work experience includes roles at Altera Corporation, PalmSource Inc., and LEGO (formerly Zowie Entertainment). At Altera Corporation, they worked as a Senior MTS Software Engineer and later as a Manager, Embedded Processor Tools. At PalmSource Inc., they served as the Manager of Palm OS Toolbox. Lastly, at LEGO, Daryl held the position of Director, Software Engineering.

Throughout their career, Daryl has showcased their expertise in software engineering, with an emphasis on embedded systems, customizations, and programming languages such as Python and JavaScript.

Daryl Spitzer attended the University of Calgary from 1982 to 1986, majoring in Computer Science.
