Mark Austin has an extensive work experience spanning over several industries. Mark began their career as a Planning Manager at Cons Modder in 1984 and later worked as an Account Manager at EDS and CSC Computer Sciences. In 1990, they joined JCI Ltd as a Chief Geologist and later became a Consulting Geologist in the Gold Division, where they served until 1997. Mark then joined Placer Dome as a Senior Exploration Geologist from 2005 to 2006. Mark subsequently served as Vice President at Mano River Resources from 2006 to 2007. In the same year, they became the CEO of Kilimapesa Gold (Pty) Ltd until 2013. From 2007 to 2013, Mark worked as a Group Geologist at Goldplat plc. Most recently, they have joined Alba Mineral Resources PLC as the Chief of Operations since November 2020.
