Kevin M. McDermott is an experienced urban and regional planner with a strong background in transportation planning. Currently serving as the Chief of Planning for Albemarle County since August 2016, Kevin previously held the position of Principal Planner - Transportation. Prior experience includes serving as Transportation Program Manager at the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission from July 2012 to August 2016, where responsibilities included multi-modal planning and collaboration with state and federal agencies. Earlier roles include Environmental/Transportation Planner at Jacobs Engineering and Recreation Planner with the USDA Forest Service at Roosevelt National Forest. Kevin holds a Master of Urban and Regional Planning with a focus on Environmental Planning from the University of Colorado Denver and a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources Recreation and Tourism from Colorado State University.
