Nicole Wong

Nicole Wong is a Senior Advisor at ASG, where she uses her expertise in information and communication technology policy (ICT), media and intellectual property law to help clients in the ICT sector. In 2013, Ms. Wong was appointed as the Deputy Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the United States. In this role she led the application of technology, data, and innovative practices across the government.

Prior to joining the government, Ms. Wong was the Legal Director of Products at Twitter and Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Google, where she was responsible for the company’s product and regulatory matters. She also held the position of Senior Compliance Counsel at Google.

From 1997 to 2004, Ms. Wong was a partner at Perkins Coie LLP, where she represented a broad range of clients in the media and ICT sectors. She began her career as an Associate at Steinhart and Falconer LLP, a San Francisco law firm, where she also represented clients in the media and ICT sectors. She currently serves on the American Bar Association Communications Law Forum, and on the board of directors of the First Amendment Coalition. She has taught media and internet law at the University of San Francisco School of Law, Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley.

Ms. Wong received a J.D. and Master's of Journalism (M.J.) from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.A. in American Studies from Georgetown University.

She is based in San Francisco.
