James Duncan

Director of Managed Network Services at Alchemy Global Networks

James Duncan has a diverse work experience in the field of network engineering and management. James started their career in 1993 as an Engineering Services Assistant at Milliken & Company. In this role, they assisted the Engineering Services Manager with various tasks, including deploying computer networks and monitoring sewage systems.

In 1999, Duncan joined Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) as a Senior Network Engineer. James was primarily responsible for designing, procuring, and supporting the state education network (AREN) on contract with the Alabama Supercomputer Authority. Duncan also served as the Chief Network Architect, Manager of the Network Services team, Erate advisor to the network team, and played a key role in winning two successful contracts for CSC.

In 2001, Duncan briefly worked as a Network Engineer at Netcentral, specifically for Books-A-Million.

From 2016 to 2018, Duncan was employed by enfoPoint Solutions as a Senior Network Engineer. James'sexpertise in designing and managing fault-tolerant Internet solutions was utilized to serve clients of all sizes. James also provided a wide range of network-related professional services to enfoPoint clients.

Most recently, in 2018, Duncan joined Alchemy Global Networks as the Director of Managed Network Services. With over 20 years of experience in IP networks, including 10 years in senior positions supporting large-scale enterprise and service provider environments, they specialize in BGP and fault-tolerant network design. Throughout their career, Duncan has filled various roles in the Service Provider space, including Helpdesk, Network Monitoring Systems Admin, Security Admin, Web Developer, and liaison between the network team and the business office.

James Duncan attended Tennessee Technological University from 1992 to 1998, where they studied Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Digital Design. In 2003, they obtained the Cisco Certified Network Professional certification from Cisco. In 2014, they obtained the JNCIA-JUNOS certification from Juniper Networks.
