Fiona Haywood

Fiona Haywood has extensive experience in the field of internal audit and assurance services. Fiona currently holds the role of Group Internal Audit Director at Aldermore Bank, starting in March 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Head of Internal Audit at C. Hoare & Co. from February 2021 to March 2023.

From 2014 to 2021, Fiona worked at Grant Thornton UK LLP, where they held the position of Managing Director within Business Risk Services. Fiona specialized in providing internal audit and assurance services to various financial services clients in the North. Additionally, they led the internal audit effectiveness review offering for banks and financial services providers.

Before joining Grant Thornton, Fiona worked as a Director at Entreprise Ltd for a brief period in 2014. Fiona also had significant roles at The Co-operative Banking Group, where they served as the Head of Regulatory Monitoring from July 2013 to January 2014, and as the Head of Internal Audit from May 2010 to July 2013. In these positions, they successfully delivered a department restructuring and built influential relationships with Audit Committee members and senior management.

Fiona'searlier experience includes roles at AstraZeneca, where they were the Head of Audit - Practice and Planning from January 2008 to 2010, and at London Scottish Bank, where they held the position of Head of Internal Audit from 2004 to 2007. In these roles, they focused on implementing risk-based auditing, enhancing internal audit reporting, and driving process improvement.

Fiona started their career at HBOS in 1990, where they held multiple roles, including Director - Compliance, Business Banking, and Deputy Head of Internal Audit. At HBOS, they established an operational compliance team and monitored compliance across the division.

Prior to joining HBOS, Fiona worked at Capital Bank as Deputy Head of Internal Audit and at Kleinwort Benson as an Assistant Manager.

Fiona Haywood attended Norwich High School for Girls from 1966 to 1979. Later, they pursued a degree in Applied Science, focusing on Geology and Geography, at Kingston University from 1981 to 1984.
