Marjorie Bateman is an accomplished scientist with extensive experience in biophysical characterizations and antibody drug discovery. Currently serving as a Scientist and Senior Associate Scientist at Alector since March 2021, Marjorie has previously held positions such as Senior Research Specialist I at Five Prime Therapeutics, Inc. and Senior Associate Scientist at Rinat Neuroscience. At Rinat Neuroscience, Marjorie was part of a biosensor core group, utilizing label-free biosensor technology to support various projects. Earlier in their career, Marjorie contributed to early discovery and protein engineering at AbbVie, and played a significant role in antibody humanization and affinity maturation strategies at Abbott Biotherapeutics Corp. and Facet Biotech. Marjorie's research achievements include discovering mutations that enhance the affinity of marketed antibody drugs through comprehensive library analyses. Marjorie holds an MA in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley and a BS in Biology from Caltech.
