Michael Birch

As the Twin Cities regional director of consumer sales, Michael Birch is responsible for leading and managing the market’s financial advisors and financial guides to ensure clients receive comprehensive financial advice from their trusted points of contact. He serves as a mentor and coach for team members and leads new business development activities by maintaining an expert knowledge level of financial services and complex financial planning concepts, including loans, depository products, investments, income and estate tax planning, protection planning, charitable planning, liquidity planning, and trusts.

Michael joined Alerus in December 2021, bringing over 20 years of financial industry experience. Before joining Alerus he served for 23 years in various roles at U.S. Bank, including 12 years as the wealth management region sales manager, where he was responsible for growing the wealth banking team and developing proven sales strategies to achieve numerous top performance accolades within the division.

He holds Series 6, Series 26, and Series 63 securities licenses and is a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School in Bellevue, Washington. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He currently serves as a member of Quorum, Minnesota’s LGBTQ+ and Allied Chamber of Commerce.
