Sara Ausman

Twin Cities Regional President at Alerus Financial Corp

Sara Ausman joined Alerus in 2012 and has nearly 30 years of experience in the financial industry. She was named Twin Cities regional president in 2017 after five years developing and leading our professional services and private banking efforts. Over the course of her career, Sara has held roles in relationship management, segment management, and has held leadership positions with several institutions in the Twin Cities market.

As regional president, Sara is responsible for strategic planning, business planning, and driving initiatives designed to strengthen Alerus’ reach in the Twin Cities. She seeks to deliver value to customers in areas such as commercial banking, private banking, retirement plan administration, and wealth management. In addition, Sara also leads the company’s charitable giving efforts in the Twin Cities.

Sara holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree from Michigan State University. Active in her community, Sara has served on the boards of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and the downtown Minneapolis YMCA. She was actively involved with the Common Bond Mentoring Program, the Minneapolis Business Partners Mentoring Program, the Ronald McDonald House, and Habitat for Humanity.

She enjoys spending free time at her family’s cabin in Wis. Sara lives in Edina with her husband, Richard, and their two daughters.
