Peter Ahrendt has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Peter has worked as a Senior Computer Vision Engineer at Alexandra Instituttet since April 2023, focusing on computer vision projects, geodata image processing, and project management. Prior to that, they founded and acted as the CEO of Animoni, a company specializing in camera-based sensor systems for animal monitoring and behavior analysis. Additionally, they served as an Associate Professor at AU Engineering, Aarhus University from September 2018 to February 2023, conducting R&D projects in machine learning and computer vision, teaching courses, and managing national/international projects. From 2017 to 2018, they worked as a Senior Specialist at Teknologisk Institut, where they applied data science models to satellite imagery for remote sensing in agriculture and took on project management responsibilities. Earlier in their career, they held various roles, including an Associate Professor at Engineering College of Aarhus, R&D Engineer at Widex A/S, Ph.D. student at Technical University of Denmark, and Research Scientist at Novo Nordisk, where they specialized in machine learning, pattern recognition, sound environments, musical genre classification, lab automation, and robotics.
Peter Ahrendt completed their Ph.D. in Machine Learning from DTU - Technical University of Denmark from 2003 to 2006. Prior to that, they obtained their M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics and Physics from Syddansk Universitet - University of Southern Denmark, spanning from 1995 to 2001. Additionally, they completed a B.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics from Durham University during the period from 1997 to 1998.
