Professor Mustafa Abdelwahid is the Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Admissions, and Registration and Director of the Libraries at Alfaisal University. Dr. Abdelwahid came to Alfaisal from a diverse academic background. He graduated with LLM in International Law in the former Soviet Union in 1993, attained his B.A., Political Science/ Global Affairs, and International Development University of North Carolina in 2000, received his MIS in Information Management from University of Wisconsin in 2003, and finished his PhD in 2008 in Political Science/Public Policy & Public Administration from Auburn University.
He has an extensive experience in higher education issues, including educational technologies and information management, policies and procedures, curriculum design and strategic planning. Prior to joining Alfaisal, Dr. Mustafa worked in University of North Carolina, University of Wisconsin, Alabama State University, Auburn Research Library, American Military University, Strayer University, Walden University, and Abu Dhabi University.
In addition to his administrative works, Dr. Abdelwahid taught extensively in the following areas: American Government, Comparative Politics, International Relations, Public Policy, U.S. Foreign Policy, Political Islam, Ethnic Conflicts, and Politics and reforms in the former Soviet Union. Dr. Abdelwahid publications include two books; The Rise of the Islamic Movement in Sudan (1945-1989) and Dusé Mohamed Ali (1866-1945): The Autobiography of a Pioneer Pan-African and Afro-Asian Activists.
Dr. Abdelwahid is a member and executive committee member of various academic and professional associations such as American Library Association (ALA), Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), Library and Information Technology Association (LITA), Special Library Association – Gulf Chapter (SLA), Middle Eastern Studies Association (MESA) and The National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA).
